Specify at Order — Five Things to Confirm

Most 113 quotation cycles speed up if these five points are confirmed in the first email. Each one changes the elastomer compound, face material or surface finish in the order.

Shaft diameter. Measure at the seal cavity itself, not the pump nameplate. Cavity bore occasionally differs from nominal shaft size by 0.5 to 1 mm.
Pumped media. Temperature, pH, sugar / fat / protein content. Sugar above 30% degrades NBR; fat content above 5% changes face wear pattern; pH below 4 or above 11 limits elastomer choice.
CIP / SIP conditions. Cleaning solution composition (caustic, peracetic, hot water), dwell time, and peak temperature. CIP above +130°C requires FKM elastomer; SIP above +120°C requires SiC / SiC face pair.
Regulatory grade. FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 (US food contact), EU 1935 / 2004 (European food contact), USP Class VI (pharmaceutical biocompatibility). Specify which scope applies — the elastomer compound differs.
Surface finish. Standard 113 ships at Ra ≤ 0.8 µm. For 3-A Sanitary Standards or EHEDG cleanability requirements, request Ra ≤ 0.4 µm at order; no extra tooling charge above MOQ.

Faces lapped to ≤ 0.0009 mm flatness. Rubber bellow tested for durometer, compression set and elongation per batch. Food-grade elastomer compounds qualified per FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 where specified. Certificate of Conformity, material certificate and dimensional report ship with the order.
