When You Need the Balanced HQQE Instead of the BQQE

The only difference between the two codes is the first letter: B is an unbalanced rubber bellows seal, HQQE Grundfos Pump Mechanical Seal is a balanced O-ring seal. Balance matters as pressure rises. In an unbalanced seal, full seal-chamber pressure pushes the faces together; above roughly 2.5 MPa that closing force overloads the faces and generates heat that shortens life. A balanced seal reduces the hydraulic closing force on the faces, so it runs cooler and lasts longer at high pressure. On a high-stage-count CR pump - where discharge pressure can reach 3 to 4 MPa - the HQQE is the correct choice; the BQQE is fine below that.
